Spicy and sweet with caramel, creamy toffee eclairs, hints of cinnamon, rum spice and cereal sweetness on the nose. 2018 Figuero 15 Reserva Ribera del Duero

Figuero is a boutique estate in Ribera del Duero focusing on small parcels of old vines across the region. The `15` refers to fifteen months in French oak, longer than standard aging requirements. The 2018 vintage in Ribera was excellent, delivering wines with ripeness, structure and balance. This Reserva comes from vines averaging 40+ years old, contributing depth and concentration. Black cherry, blackberry and plum with dark chocolate, espresso and sweet oak spice. Full bodied with firm tannins and a concentrated core of dark fruit. There`s power here but it`s controlled, with freshness keeping it from feeling heavy. Layers of complexity with liquorice, leather and mineral notes. Long, persistent finish. Decant for at least an hour if drinking now, preferably longer. This needs air to show its best. Pairs excellently with grilled steak, roast lamb, game, or aged Manchego. Still quite youthful, will develop beautifully over 10-15 years.

This 11 year old whisky is a rare beast from the Adnams stable. With its wheat dominant mash bill (60% Wheat, 35% Barley, 5% Oats) and aged for 11 years in 1st fill American Oak barrels, it demonstrates remarkable complexity and harmony - a whisky to be sipped and savoured.. Nose: Coconut, Caramel, Roasted Notes, Tobacco, Charred Wood, Bonfire, Burnt Coffee. Palate: Espresso, Caramel, Biscuit, Spice, Chocolate, Spicy. Finish: Caramel, Honey, Liquorice, Allspice, Creamy. Perfect serve: Add a splash of chilled spring water according to taste.. On the nose you’ll find coconut and caramel, alongside roasted notes like bonfire-charred wood, tobacco and burnt coffee - as if the water was a little too hot for your brew. On tasting, there is chocolate, espresso and spice, balanced by flavours of biscuit and caramelised toffee, which fills the palate with a creamy texture that carries on through to the finish. The caramel and honeyed notes linger, along with notes of liquorice and allspice.

The molasses base gives deep notes of raisin and cracked caramel, with an extra flavour dimension from the oak, enveloped in layers of rich caramel.. All the rums in the English Spirit collection only use pure sugar cane molasses as a base for the spirit; no sugar cane juice or syrup here; to give the rum a signature richness and complexity. The molasses is fermented for at least two weeks and then distilled twice, in small batches, in copper alembic stills.
