Why this wine matters
Tyrrell’s treats this as the entry point to its Hunter Semillon family. Much of the fruit comes from the HVD vineyard, with vines averaging around 30 years old.
How it is made
The winemaking follows the same basic philosophy as the flagship Semillons: preserve fruit purity, low alcohol and high acidity, with little stylistic interference.
What does it taste like?
Young bottles are citrusy, herbal and very lean; with age the style can develop toast, wax and lanolin-like complexity despite little or no oak influence.
Serve it well
Serve around 8–10°C when young. Older bottles can be served slightly warmer.
If this wine were human…
If Hunter Valley Semillon were human, it would be patient, layered and suspicious of anything described as “instant”.
Does any of this sound suspiciously familiar?
Patient, layered and suspicious of anything described as “instant”. You enjoy discovering that the quietest person at the table is usually the most interesting one.
At dinner, you can rescue an awkward silence with one question and then let everyone else take the credit. Secretly, you are delighted when somebody else spots the detail you were hoping they would notice.
In short: patient, layered and suspicious of anything described as “instant”. semillon energy, translated into a person.
Purely for fun — this is the wine’s fictional personality, not a psychological reading of yours.
